Taawon UK affected by Beacon cyber-security incident.

06 August 2026

Dear supporters,

Earlier this week, we were notified by our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software provider, Beacon, that they have experienced a cybersecurity breach that has likely impacted our data. According to their preliminary investigation, they believe our data has been downloaded by a third party after unauthorised access to their systems.

We are reaching out to you to inform you that your data may have been compromised as part of this breach. Beacon has assured us that the breach has been contained, but we know that this is alarming news. Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us and we are doing everything in our power to respond to this incursion.

We do not store your credit card or banking details on Beacon and, at this point, there is no indication that this information has been compromised. Nor are we aware of any publication of the data that was copied.

However, the information that was downloaded could potentially be used to make phishing emails, text messages, and phone calls. Please exercise caution and do not provide your personal details in response to any unsolicited contact. All communication from Taawon UK will come from the taawonuk.org domain. If you are ever in doubt, please reach out to us to verify the authenticity of communications.

For more information on how to protect yourself, please take a look here at the guidance from the National Cyber Security Centre.

Subsequent to notification of the incident, we have filed a report with the Information Commissioner’s Office, notified the Charity Commission of a serious incident, and contacted affected individuals with available contact details. We will continue to work with Beacon as they investigate the breach.

We are deeply sorry to all those of you who have been impacted for any worry this may cause. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions.

Best wishes,

Alex Foley
