Move for Palestine. (1)

Take the challenge.

Be the light for an orphaned child in Gaza.

It’s the most natural thing in the world. You wake up, lace up your trainers, head out the door, and you’re flying. For many of us, exercise and sport are integral parts of our daily routine.

But for Palestinians, movement is heavily restricted. In Gaza, a stroll down the block or a swim in the sea can prove deadly. The ongoing assault has especially impacted children. Over 58,000 children have lost one or both of their parents, creating an unprecedented crisis in orphan care.

At Taawon UK, we are creating the opportunity for everyone to turn their solidarity into action. With our Move for Palestine campaign, you can set a personal movement challenge and receive sponsorships from your community while you work towards your target.

We want everyone to be able to participate, no matter you sport or ability level. Whether you are into running, swimming, wheeling, climbing, or cycling, you can set a personal challenge that you think will motivate your friends and family to give.

However, we have set a couple challenges that we feel have special meaning:

41 for Gaza

41 kilometres across the month — the length of the Gaza Strip, north to south. Around 1.5 km a day.

365 Challenge

One kilometre for every square kilometre of Gaza, home to more than two million people. Perfect for teams or endurance athletes.

Your Distance

Ten swims. A first 5k. A hill you’ve been avoiding. Equally valid, equally welcome.

How it works.

What is NOOR?

NOOR is a nation long-term initiative launched by Taawon in partnership with the Bank of Palestine Group to support 20,000 children who have lost one or both parents during the assault on Gaza. Spanning 18 years with an estimated budget of $377 million, the programme provides holistic care, covering education, healthcare, psychosocial support, and social protection.

NOOR goes well beyond just a response to a crisis; it is a lasting commitment to safeguarding the dignity of Gaza's orphaned children and helping them to rebuild their futures.

In Arabic, noor means light. By taking the Move for Palestine challenge, you can be the light for an orphan in their darkest moments.
